A delightful antique Victorian period Austro-Hungarian dance card booklet or Carnet de Bal. The red velvet cover with an applied brass cartouche with a plain oval center, unengraved, with a scroll decorated surround. With pencil closure with two pink silk loops with the original pencil with bone top and silk tassel attached with a cord.

Within is white textured paper to the inside covers and a card stock printed with the dances, some marked in pencil.
The title page in Czech language which I roughly translate as a Dance (Ples) for the Unity of the Local Union of Czech Honey, in the Church (?) on the 16th January (Ledna) 1886.
With two brass rings for a chain with a hook for wearing as a chatelaine.
Austro-Hungary 1880s.

6.5cm high x 5cm wide. In inches 2 1/2″ x 2″.
With waist hook and chain 12.5cm high. In inches 4 7/8″.

A delightful and totally original object with some normal wear to the velvet and the original pencil marks on the dance card from 1886!
